If your pension is underfunded, if your Health plan is underfunded or broke who do you blame?
You pay union dues every paycheck to the union and they provide you job security and negotiate on your behalf, securing your retirement and healthcare benefits. It is through their collective bargaining they make sure your pay keeps up with inflation, you are justly treated, your retirement is guaranteed, and your job is protected.
If the company tries to take advantage of the employees, the union can call a strike.
So, when your union retirement fund is underfunded and the promised retirement income you work 40 years for is in jeopardy who do you blame? When the retirement healthcare plan they negotiated for you is being threatened, who do you blame?
The company you work for, after all, that’s where the retirement money comes from, or the union, they have the power to demand the company live up to the terms of the contract. Isn’t that what you pay dues for!
