Everyone thinks the Government is what has caused marijuana to be illegal and made out to be, one of the most dangerous drugs.
Who does weed hurt? The sale of alcohol, maybe!
The government would loose alcohol tax revenue and if weed became legal would save tremendously in law enforcement and incarceration costs. Police, DEA and Customs jobs would be eliminated.
The real problem would be the loss in Tax revenue and legalizing pot that everyone could grow their own, makes the likelihood of replacing the revenue with weed tax looks bleak. If Government controls the growth and production of weed they stand a better chance of getting the tax money. The dilemma comes with; is it Government grown pot or ditch weed grown on a patio.
The solution is to model it after the cigarette industry and use tax stamps.
It might be time to shed your alcohol related stocks if the momentum for legal weed continues.
